TMS at Pine Rest
Located on the Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services Grand Rapids campus, our clinic has been providing Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) for depression for over 50 years with the most current technology and safety. We are pleased to now also offer TMS to our patients.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Therapy is one of the most technologically advanced depression treatments available. This non-invasive, outpatient therapy is FDA cleared and has helped thousands of depression patients who have not received adequate results from antidepressants.
At Pine Rest, receiving treatment is convenient, and our skilled and experienced psychiatrists and nursing staff insures patients receive the best possible care.
Typically, a TMS treatment is about 40-45 minutes. It is given daily, Monday through Friday, over 4-6 weeks for a total of 20-30 treatments. Individuals are awake throughout treatments. Since no anesthesia is used, patients may drive themselves to and from their appointments.
To begin treatments, a consultation is completed by one of Pine Rest’s TMS credentialed psychiatrists. Treatment options are discussed with the patient, and together with the psychiatrist a treatment plan is developed.
TMS is a wonderful option for those individuals who suffer with depression.
