Sherry Norman, LMSW

My name is Sherry Norman and I am a Licensed Masters level Social Worker servicing all age groups, but specializing in children and adolescents.  I received my Bachelors degree from Calvin College and my Masters from the University of Michigan.  I have extensive experience working with victims of child sexual abuse and minority populations.  I have also worked in a variety of settings including home-based, school social work and outpatient therapy.  I especially enjoy working with children and families experiencing anxiety, depression and mood disorders, school issues, adjustment disorder, trauma recovery, parenting, ADHD, and grief/loss.

My husband and I have been married since 1991 and we have three daughters.  I am thankful to be able to actively volunteer at my church and my children’s Christian school.  Some of the opportunities I currently enjoy are singing in the Praise Team and being the president of the school’s Parent’s Club.  I have taken on many leadership and teaching roles in the past including:  Sunday school teacher, GEMS coordinator, Youth group leader, and VBS.  My next adventure is working to develop a middle-school Pre-Profession of Faith class in our church.

The resume info aside, I believe that God has generously blessed me with a Christian upbringing and a Godly husband.  When my husband was diagnosed with a serious form of cancer in 2008, I needed to rely on God for guidance and strength to face overwhelming personal challenges. I know that trails and pain help to develop Godly character and I believe that I am called to be one who walks beside those who are hurting.  I believe that God has blessed me with spiritual gifts as well as a desire to express mercy and compassion to others.  I am thankful to work in a Christian setting that allows me to weave my faith, personal experiences, and formal education together, while fulfilling my passion to help hurting children, adults and families.
