Pine Rest is the fourth largest behavioral health provider in the U.S., offering a full continuum of services including psychiatric urgent care, inpatient and partial hospitalization, residential, outpatient services, teletherapy, addiction treatment and recovery as well as specialized assessment and treatment clinics.

Hospital Based Services

Van Andel Center

Psychiatric Urgent Care Center

Same-day psychiatric services for adults ages 18-65. The center is designed to provide immediate assessment and treatment for people experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms who cannot wait for routine psychiatric outpatient appointment.

Inpatient Hospitalization

Our inpatients unit are tailored specifically to meet the needs of individuals with depression and other mood disorders requiring 24/7 care in a setting that provides safety and security during crisis stabilization.

We offer separate units by age (children, teens, young adults, adults and older adults).

Partial Hospitalization (Day Programs)

Short-term, intensive daily treatment allows patients to return home in the evening.

We offer separate programs by age (children, teens, adults, and older adults).

Our Mother and Baby Program is one of only a few in the country that allow women to bring their infant to treatment with them to help reduce anxiety and barriers to treatment.

Over 220 highly trained psychiatrists and psychologists provide a broad spectrum of quality care including psychiatry, therapy, consultation, assessment, counseling and specialty treatments for all ages in convenient, welcoming environments.

Assessment & Testing

Pine Rest offers a variety of services for individuals of all ages, organizations and professionals seeking psychological and neuropsychological assessment, evaluations and recommendations

Individual Therapy

Our clinicians are trained to provide many different psychotherapy treatments including:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)
  • Interpersonal therapy (IPT)


Many of our clinicians now offer individual therapy through online video connection (similar to Skype or Facetime). We provide teletherapy throughout Michigan.

Group Therapy and Classes

Neuromodulation Therapies

These techniques use electrical or magnetic currents to stimulate or alter brain activity.

  • Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS): The latest in depression treatment, TMS is a non-invasive, non-drug outpatient therapy approved by the FDA
  • Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT): Safe and effective treatment for the symptoms of major depression, bipolar, schizoaffective disorder and other diagnoses

Pine Rest offers a full continuum of addiction services including a specialized inpatient unit for individuals with co-occuring substance use and a mental health disorder, residential detoxification, intensive day programs, individual and group therapy as well as family services. All of the service components in the continuum welcome those who also have mental health disorders.
