Mindfulness Based Stress Management
Mindfulness based stress and anxiety management is a mental wellness program that helps people of all ages and backgrounds reduce symptoms like irritability, difficulty concentrating, racing thoughts, muscle tension, headaches, insomnia, worry and feeling overwhelmed.
This nine-week program for adults (18+), offered by our Traverse City Clinic, is based on Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction by Jon Kabat-Zinn and The 8 Week Solution to Help You Manage Anxiety, Worry and Stress by Tanya J. Peterson, MS, NCC.
Sessions will be a combination of mindfulness practice, inquiry into practice and skills coaching. Participants will be expected to do mindfulness meditation practice (body scan or sitting meditation) for 40 minutes each day and additional homework to help deepen participants’ mindfulness practices.
Each week has a particular focus:
Week 1 – Present Moment Awareness
Week 2 – Worry and Rumination
Week 3 – Observing Your Thoughts
Week 4 – Social Anxiety
Week 5 – Working with Difficult Emotions
Week 6 – Phobias and Avoidance
Week 7 – Body Awareness
Week 8 – Panic Attacks
Week 9 – The Road Ahead

$60 per session. Most insurance accepted. Ask if you qualify for financial assistance.
