Why I chose Pine Rest: The campus is beautiful, the commute is short, and parking is a breeze; Staff and colleagues are friendly, collaborative and interested in education; Rotations allow for depth and breadth of experience in inpatient, outpatient, consult-liaison and specialty areas.
Other Interests: The outdoors – I have hiked in multiple national parks. Hanging out with the other fellows.

Russell Fridson, MD

Why I chose Pine Rest: I found it appealing to train in a hospital system where psychiatry and mental health are the primary clinical focus, as opposed to the clinical environment of many programs, where they are not.
Other Interests: Hiking/exploring the fresh coast of Lake Michigan, playing sports, attending musical performances (of which, there are many in Grand Rapids).

Lindsey Bailey, MD

Why I chose Pine Rest: There was so much opportunity to learn. There is such a large patient population and I got a multitude of experience in various treatment settings.
Other Interests: I love to work out and play ice hockey in my free time. I also love spending time with my family, especially quiet days on the water fishing with my grandpa. I also have a pretty sweet wingman, Camo, my golden retriever!
Professional or Clinical Interests: Autism, military psychiatry.

Benjamin Burns, MD

Why I chose Pine Rest: I liked the large campus devoted entirely to mental health with a variety of experiences from inpatient to outpatient in different subspecialties. I also liked how supportive the program is for trainees with families.
Other Interests: I enjoy gardening, hiking and traveling. I also enjoy eating at new or unique restaurants.
Professional or Clinical Interests: Adolescent Addictions, Autism, ADHD.
Research/Research Interests: Currently involved in the LAPS Study looking at the long-term side effects of antipsychotics in children and adolescents.
Career Goals: I plan on working at the Pine Rest Southwest Clinic working with children and adolescents after graduation.

Why I chose Pine Rest: Beautiful large psychiatric facility; extensive pathology to work with; wonderful staff and attendings. Caring and supportive faculty.

Why I chose Pine Rest: Attendings that I respect and feel confident learning the habits of, and Grand Rapids is a great balance of city opportunities without unmanageable cost of living or traffic!
