Clinical Pastoral Education Supervisor
Rev. Karl VanHarn is the Director of Pastoral Services and CPE at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services. He is an ordained minister in the Christian Reformed Church. He has served churches in Littleton, Colorado and Jenison, Michigan. He has also served as a Chaplain in general hospitals in Denver and Santa Rosa, California. He worked with Pine Rest CPE from 1995 to 2004, while serving as a Chaplain at Wedgwood Christian Services. He has been an ACPE Supervisor since 1998.
He has a B.A. in Philosophy from Calvin College, a M.Div. from Calvin Theological Seminary and a D. Min. from Western Theological Seminary.
He is married to Joanna, and they have two teenaged children, Joseph and Miriam.
Rev. Kathy Bird DeYoung is the Associate Clinical Pastoral Education Supervisor at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services. She is an ordained minister with American Baptist Churches U.S.A. Rev. Kathy has been a Board Certified Chaplain through the Association of Professional Chaplains. She has served churches in Peoria, Rantoul and Mahomet, Illinois. Rev. Kathy served as a chaplain in three retirement communities in metro-Denver from 1999 through 2013.
She has a B.A. from Michigan State University, and a M.Div from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard, Illinois. Rev. Kathy is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry program at Denver Seminary. Having worked in Latin America for over two years, she is fluent in Spanish.
She is married to Mark DeYoung, a special education teacher.
