Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services is working to reduce the risk of postpartum depression among women/couples in the West Michigan area, by offering a Postpartum Depression Prevention Group at its Northeast, North Shore and Portage Clinics.
This one-time group workshop teaches women and their support person how to reduce the risk by creating a plan. They learn how to recognize warning signs of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs), how to identify and strengthen resources, and how to take actions to increase one’s health and reduce the risk of developing PMADs.
About 15-20 percent of all mothers experience some sort of PMAD. Left untreated, PMADs can cause serious mental health problems for mothers, their babies and even other family members involved.
This ‘Postpartum Depression: Reduce Your Risk’ group meeting is offered every quarter and is FREE to attend. Registration is required. The next group meeting is scheduled at the Pine Rest Portage Clinic located at 1350 W. Center Avenue, Portage, MI 49024, for April 17, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
For more information or to register yourself and a support person, please call Pine Rest Portage Clinic at 269.910.7327. Check back regularly on our website www.pinerest.org/risk for future meeting dates and times.
