Designing Hope Together
A Center Built for Our Children, Our Families and the Communities We Love
“We want our kids to live purposeful and joy filled lives,” said Dr. Mark Eastburg, president and CEO of Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services when announcing the Pediatric Center of Behavioral Health. “We want them to flourish, along with the families, schools and communities that support them. Mental health problems and the chronic shortage of services have been robbing our kids of the joy we all want for them. The Pediatric Behavioral Health will help our community and state become a place where none of our kids will have to wait weeks or months for world class mental health care.”
Youth Shaped the Treehouse
Kids didn’t just inspire our new Pediatric Center of Behavioral Health—they helped shape it. Our Youth Advisory Council (YAC), made up of high school and college students played a meaningful role in selecting the treehouse theme, colors and artwork that bring the center to life. Their insight ensured every space feels playful, calming and empowering.
From the vibrant nature‑inspired palette to the imaginative art that brightens each hallway, the YAC members helped us create an environment where children can feel safe, seen and supported from the moment they walk in.
BWBR
BWBR designed the pediatric center with youth and families at the heart of every decision. Inspired by the surrounding woods, their treehouse concept creates a warm, nature‑infused space where care feels welcoming, not overwhelming. From intuitive “No Wrong Door” access to playful, calming environments and family‑friendly gathering spaces, BWBR’s vision brings comfort, dignity and ease to every step of the care journey.
EV Construction
EV Construction helped bring the Pediatric Center’s treehouse vision to life with thoughtful craftsmanship and a deep focus on supporting youth and families. Working carefully on Pine Rest’s active, wooded campus, their team shaped bright, engaging interiors and safe outdoor spaces while coordinating each step with precision. Their close collaboration with BWBR ensured the complex design became a warm, uplifting environment for healing.
Take a Look Inside
The Pine Rest Pediatric Center of Behavioral Health is located on our 220-acre park-like campus. The 136,000 square foot facility will improve access to care and impact families statewide both today and for generations to come through our continuum of services.
Collaborating for the Kids
Pine Rest partners with Corewell Health Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital as well as hospital systems, pediatricians, schools, families and tribes across Michigan—to build a truly connected network of care for youth. Together, these partners are expanding hard‑to‑find services and creating new programs not available anywhere else in the state, ensuring children and teens can access the right support at the right time.
The Pediatric Center of Behavioral Health is a key part of this collaboration, serving as a central hub that brings these coordinated services to life for families statewide.
Informed by Healing Hearts
Pine Rest’s leadership, care teams and staff drew on deep clinical expertise and the latest best practices to shape a treatment center designed with safety, healing and family support at its core. The Pediatric Center reflects evidence‑based care at every level. Their commitment to creating a safe, developmentally attuned environment is woven throughout the center, ensuring families can trust that the care their children receive is grounded in the strongest clinical knowledge and thoughtful, compassionate design.
Vision Statement
In the Pediatric Center of Behavioral Health, we envision a future where every child and family facing behavioral health challenges is empowered through compassionate, evidenced-based care to grow, heal, and move confidently toward a future filled with opportunity and belonging.
