Meet Lisa.* She is 17 years old and receiving outpatient care from Pine Rest.
Not long ago, Lisa attempted suicide.
She had been abused by her father since the age of three. Although he was ultimately sent to prison for these acts, Lisa would still face a difficult road ahead. Her mother and stepfather, with whom she lived, were at risk of losing their home … and then Lisa found out she was pregnant. At just seven weeks, she lost the baby. Lisa was overwhelmed and believed that taking her life seemed the only solution.
Healing began when Pine Rest was able to respond to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital with a placement in our hospital’s child and adolescent unit. After arriving at Pine Rest, Lisa received the behavioral health stabilization that she desperately needed. She has since transitioned to our clinical network for the outpatient aftercare that will continue her healing journey.
Starting in July, Pine Rest will be able to respond to even more individuals who need our help when our new 26-bed adolescent and young adult unit opens.
Lisa was able to receive the treatment she needed because of the Pine Rest Patient Assistance Fund (PAF).
At Pine Rest, we meet people with stories like Lisa’s on a daily basis. Because of the depth and breadth of our services, we are able to respond to a broad spectrum of behavioral health needs. Our caregivers meet each individual’s needs – a child in need of ADHD treatment, a mother suffering from a perinatal mood and anxiety disorder (PMAD), or an individual diagnosed with dementia – with professional excellence and compassion.
Thousands come to us without insurance or financial resources to meet the costs of care. Your gift today to the Patient Assistance Fund can save the life of someone like Lisa by ensuring that they receive the treatment they need.
We are grateful for your partnership to extend healing to individuals and families. Last year, over 2,500 people received behavioral health services through the Patient Assistance Fund. When you donate, 100% of your gift will be used to help reduce the cost of treatment for individuals and families with financial need.
Please consider a gift to the Pine Rest Patient Assistance Fund today … You could help save a life!
