Congratulations to Bea Nagel, BSN, RN, our most recent winner of the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award honoring nurses who have devoted their careers to providing exceptional care!
For over 37 years, Bea called on her nursing gifts to serve others at Pine Rest. She earned her LPN degree at the Pine Rest School of Nursing in 1974, followed by her RN degree in 1985. She worked on several different units in varying capacities at Pine Rest before joining our Utilization Management team in 2001 overseeing our Aspen and Older Adult units.
As Bea gets ready to retire, her coworkers recall the joy she brought to work with her each day, and reflect on all they’ve learned during their time working alongside her:
“Bea shows compassion to her fellow coworkers. She always makes sure that we are overall doing well.”
“She embodies what it is to be a nurse as well as serving others through the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.”
“Bea helped show me a different type of nursing career through the Pine Rest Mission. She shows empathy, honesty, and skilled quality during her work.”
“Bea made me feel like I was part of the UM department on my very first day. Very warm and friendly, and the best sense of humor I could ask for in a coworker and friend.”

She wanted an award that could be given to honor the extraordinary care and compassion that nurses give their patients.
