March 14, 2025

perimenopause 1200x358

What is the purpose of the study?

The purpose of the study is to find out whether hormonal changes in mid-life women act on the immune system to trigger depression. If we find that they do, we may be able to develop risk markers that can be
measured in blood samples to tell who is at risk for depression during perimenopause.

Who can participate?

Women who are undergoing perimenopause and experiencing different degrees of depressive symptoms, or no depression at all.

  • Women ages 40-55 who are undergoing perimenopause.
  • Experiencing different degrees of depressive symptoms, or no depression at all.
  • Other criteria may apply.

What is involved in participation?

  • This study is voluntary, confidential and no cost.
  • You will be asked to come to 1 or 2 research visits.
  • The visits will take around 1-1.5 hours and include physical and mental health questionnaires and a blood sample.
  • You will receive a $100 store/debit card at the completion of each of the visits.
