Pine Rest welcomes new board members

The Pine Rest governance team is pleased to announce the addition of four new corporate board members, including an existing member of our Foundation board.

Jack DeBoer served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Pine Rest Foundation board before joining the corporate board. A native of Chicago, he earned a B.A. in Business/Economics, followed by both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music, before moving to Grand Rapids 17 years ago. He currently teaches music at Grand Valley State University as an Adjunct Professor. Jack has served in his church as both deacon and elder and on various church council committees, and has also served two terms on the board of Geneva Camp & Retreat Center. He believes strongly in the mission and ministry of Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services and is proud to be a member of the board.

Stella Michael graduated from Birla Institute of Technology and Science in India and began her career working for several multinational companies there, including Samsung and Cypress Semiconductor, before moving to the U.S. She currently serves as the Director of CRM Platforms and Applications at Beaumont Health Spectrum Health (BHSH), where she enjoys being able to exercise her passion for using technology to improve healthcare accessibility and affordability. Stella is also the the co-founder of Asian American Community Engagement (AACE) at BHSH and Chairperson of the board of the West Michigan Asian American Association non-profit organization.

Omar Cueves is Vice President of Investor and Corporate Relations for the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce. His past board involvement includes the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber, United Church Outreach Ministries, Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth (now Boys and Girls Club), and the Hispanic Center of West Michigan. Currently, Omar serves as Co-Chair of the Community Inclusion Board for the Convention and Arena Authority, the Literacy Center of West Michigan board, and has been appointed to serve many other boards including the Grand Rapids Promise Zone Authority Board, the Michigan State Policy Citizen’s Advisory Board, and the New Americans Welcome Plan for Kent County, to name a few. Omar also serves at the national level in the Association of Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Mina Breuker, RN, MSN, MM, dedicated her acute care nursing career to Holland Community Hospital System for 20 years, where she took on both Nursing Management and Hospital Administration roles. She was named President and CEO of Holland Home in 2015 and retired in March 2022. She is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in the state of Michigan and was instrumental in implementing Tandem365, a joint venture consisting of four local retirement homes, along with Life EMS, that provide case management for payors in greater Western Michigan. Previously, Mina served as Chair of the Board of Directors of Atrio Home Care, as well as for Care Resources, a partnership consisting of Dominican Sisters-Grand Rapids, Reliance Community Care Partners, Holland Home, Metro Health and Pine Rest, all working together to provide PACE (Programs of All-Inclusive Care) services to Kent County.

We are thrilled to welcome these dynamic and talented community stakeholders to our governance team and look forward to their valuable contributions, both as Pine Rest board members and members of the West Michigan community.
