Pine Rest residents showcase creations during “ArtPrize” style competition

December 6, 2022

Pine Rest residents from Freedom House, Maple Lodge, Sequioa and Christian Homes recently participated in their own ArtPrize competition … and it was a huge success!

For the second year in a row, residents’ artwork was displayed in our Postma Center and viewers had the opportunity to vote for their favorite pieces. Our residents were very proud and excited to show off their work in an exhibit which featured 36 pieces including two group projects.

“Many residents enjoy creating artwork, and it is a great activity option to express creativity,” says Rachelle Hineline, Project Lead and Psychiatric Technician in Pine Rest’s Eastwood Cottage. “Participating meant could show off their art to a larger audience, and it also created the opportunity for an outing to visit ArtPrize in downtown Grand Rapids!”

Prizes for the competition were donated and the winning entries (listed below) won $5 Dollar Tree gift cards. The group prize? Krispy Kreme donuts!

Pine Rest Resident ArtPrize Winners:

  • 1st place – ‘Metal Max Robot’

  • 3rd place (tied) – ‘It’s Okay to Be Different’ (group entry) and ‘Christmas Stockings’
  • 4th place – ‘Self-Portrait Scarecrow’
