Pine Rest is proud to now offer Pediatric Psychiatric Urgent Care, a same‑day service designed specifically for children and adolescents ages 6–17 experiencing urgent emotional or behavioral health concerns.
Open Monday through Thursday, Noon to 6:00 p.m. inside the Pediatric Center of Behavioral Health on Pine Rest’s 68th Street SE campus in Grand Rapids, the Pediatric Psychiatric Urgent Care provides same-day, in-person assessments for young people facing challenges such as:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Panic attacks
- Behavioral concerns without aggression
- Disordered eating behaviors
- Medicine evaluations
- Suicidal thoughts or feelings
- Self-harm urges
- Substance use concerns
- Difficulty managing daily responsibilities
This service is intended for situations that require urgent mental health support but not emergency medical attention. Families may visit the service’s web page to learn when psychiatric urgent care is appropriate versus when to seek help at a local emergency department.
Compassionate Care from a Pediatric-Focused Team
During a visit, children and their families will meet with a multidisciplinary pediatric behavioral health team that may include licensed therapists, psychiatric providers and medical assistants. Each visit includes:
- A crisis assessment
- Initial treatment recommendations
- Education for the child and his or her family
- A personalized after-care plan
- Referrals for ongoing care when needed
