On Tuesday, May 21st, Pine Rest neighbors, staff, construction contractors and families were invited to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Pediatric Center of Behavioral Health at the Pine Rest Cutlerville campus!
During the kid-friendly festival, over 1,000 guests had the chance to explore construction equipment and emergency vehicles, play with toy trucks in “Michigan’s Largest Sandbox”, grab treats from eight local food trucks, meet popular mascots and therapy animals, and enjoy hands-on activities hosted by our Activity Therapy team.
WOODTV8 host and local media icon Maranda emceed the event, while Pine Rest President and CEO Dr. Mark Eastburg took a few moments to address the crowd, emphasizing the positive impact that the Pediatric Center will have on children, families and communities, as it helps address Michigan’s need for child and adolescent mental health care.
“We’re building this for you,” said Dr. Eastburg, who first announced plans for the state’s first dedicated pediatric behavioral health hospital in July 2022.
The Pine Rest Pediatric Center of Behavioral Health will dramatically expand access to essential, top quality inpatient and partial hospitalization, outpatient care, and behavioral health testing services for children and teens throughout the state, improve the quality of life for many families. It is scheduled to open in early 2026.
