Getting help for your mental health shouldn’t depend on how far you can drive or whether services are available nearby. That’s why Pine Rest is now making it easier to receive timely care by offering same-day telehealth appointments for Adult Psychiatric Urgent Care (ages 18+) across Michigan.
This new option means you can connect with a psychiatric provider from wherever you are without sacrificing quality. These virtual appointments are especially helpful for adults who need a timely psychiatric medication adjustment.
“We’re always looking for ways to close gaps in care so people can get help when they need it,” said Kyle Hoffmaster, RN, Director of Patient Access. “By offering same-day telehealth psychiatric urgent care, we’re making it easier for our friends and neighbors to receive timely, high-quality support so they can better manage their mental health and well-being.”
Fast access to real support without the drive
For many people, especially those in rural areas or with limited transportation, getting to an in-person appointment can be a challenge. This new telehealth service helps remove that barrier.
Through a secure video visit, patients can meet with a psychiatric provider and receive:
- Same-day psychiatric medication adjustments
- Prescriptions sent to your preferred pharmacy
- Referrals to additional care, if appropriate
Appointments typically last about 60 minutes and are scheduled the same day you call.
A simple, supportive process
Getting started is straightforward. To schedule an appointment, simply call 616.455.9200. First, you’ll spend a few minutes speaking with a medical assistant who will get you registered, review your insurance, and make sure your technology is ready for a video visit. Then, you’ll receive a free safety assessment from a masters level social worker. This helps ensure telehealth is an appropriate and safe option for you.
From there, your appointment is scheduled for later that day. If same-day slots are full, you’ll be offered an appointment on the next business day. Appointment times are scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Calling earlier in the day is recommended.

What you’ll need
To use the telehealth service, patients must:
- Be 18 or older
- Be physically located in Michigan at the time of the visit
- Have (or create) a Pine Rest MyChart account
