Congratulations to Shelley Pruiksma, RN, winner of the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award honoring longstanding nurses who have devoted their entire careers to providing exceptional care for others!
Shelley has been a psych nurse for 41 years, 16 of which have been at Pine Rest. During her time here, she has worked throughout many areas including as staff nurse, intake, utilization management, and nurse extender working with both inpatients and outpatients. She completed her Addiction Certification, Nurse Extender on Hickory Adult Unit, Child & Adolescent Unit, Redwood – Dual Diagnosis Unit, and is currently working in the Neuromodulation Clinic overseeing patients who are undergoing Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for severe depression and other serious mental health conditions.
Shelley is loved by her patients and extremely knowledgeable about psych mental health nursing. She has devoted many hours to teaching fellow nurses, student nurses, patients, and others about mental health, substance use disorders and TMS. She prides herself on providing tools for her patients to assist them in being successful.
