Congratulations to Dr. Gretchen Johnson, Pine Rest Chief Nurse Executive, one of three finalists and winner of the Brilliant Team Player Award at the 2021 West Michigan Woman Brilliance Awards Ceremony!
The ceremony was held at the JW Marriott in downtown Grand Rapids on August 31, 2021. This annual event is hosted by West Michigan Woman Magazine to honor “the dynamic talent, spirit and intellect of local women, celebrating the brilliant and meaningful impact they have on our careers and communities” and “recognizes those who tackle the issues facing professional women and blaze trails for the rest of us.”
The woman deserving of the Team Player award “demonstrates the extraordinary spirit of being a team player. Without fail, she goes above and beyond to help whenever and wherever needed … creates a welcoming, supportive, cooperative work environment, one where goals are achieved and celebrated.”
“I am blessed to be a member of such a hardworking team,” says Dr. Johnson. “As a team, we are driven by our belief that everyone deserves access to high quality behavioral health care. I love the work we do, and I believe I was created to be a psychiatric nurse. I am so grateful and appreciative for this award, and I am grateful to be a part of the Pine Rest team!”
Dr. Johnson has been a dynamic member of the Pine Rest staff for many years in various roles, from direct patient care provider where she began her career over 20 years ago to Director of Nursing following her promotion in 2020. She was instrumental in helping develop and launch our unique Mother and Baby Program in 2012 and, most recently, served as our Director of Education. She can often be seen handing out DAISY Awards to members of her own nursing staff, but this time it was her turn to accept a much deserved honor!
Also recognized during the ceremony was Jean Holthaus, LMSW, one of three finalists for the Brilliant Mentor award category. Jean is Pine Rest’s Outpatient Regional Director and manager of the Telehealth Clinic.
The evening also featured the presentation of an award by Harmony Gould, Vice President of Hospital and Residential Services at Pine Rest.
