Donate Blankets to Pine Rest Patients through Project #EAS Effort to Support Mental Health Awareness

November 21, 2025

“Small acts of kindness can make a lasting impact.”

The non-profit organization i understand love heals is once again kicking off the holiday season with a blanket drive to bring warmth, comfort and hope to Pine Rest patients and others experiencing loss, mental health challenges and difficult seasons in life.

Project #EAS (Empowering All Survivors) was started five years ago by Sarah Spitler and her children in memory of their loving father and husband, Eric A. Spitler, who tragically lost his life to suicide on January 4, 2021. The family have since made it their mission to save lives one blanket at a time.

Now through December 31, 2025, anyone can donate a new, unused store bought or homemade blanket to one of several drop-off locations around Grand Rapids including Pine Rest. Blankets will be delivered to Pine Rest and other organizations as comforting gifts for patients experiencing a mental health crisis.

Interested in donating to this effort and/or want to learn more? See the list of all drop-off sites here, or send an email to info@iunderstandloveheals.org.
