Celebrating Nursing Excellence: Outstanding RNs Awarded During Pine Rest Nurse’s Week

Pine Rest nursing leadership was pleased to celebrate excellence in nursing during Nurse’s Week (May 6 – 12)! Six exceptional caregivers were recognized for their commitment to patient care, their innovative approaches in nursing practice, and their compassionate service both here at Pine Rest and in the community at large.

The awards and recipients included:

Keystone Award – Mary Jo Miedema (Neuromodulation Clinic)

In recognition of nurses who are engaged and committed to their organization as evidenced by their work contributions and committee participation.


Nursing Preceptor & Mentor Award – Matt Ippel (Child & Adolescent Unit)

In recognition of nurses who demonstrate accountability, clinical excellence and teamwork. Supports education and professional development of novice and experienced nurses.


Nursing Achievement Award – Terri Roelofs (Older Adult Unit)

Recognizes the outstanding contributions of a nurse in direct patient care who has positively impacted the practice environment AND/OR who has been recognized for nursing care accomplishments at Pine Rest or in the community.


Nightingale Awards – Ben Weissenborn (Cypress Unit) & Heather Van Houten (Detox Unit)

Recognizing nurses in their first year of practice who demonstrate commitment to the profession through patient care and seeking out new knowledge to improve nursing practice and clinical excellence.


Nurse Leadership Award – Kris London (Older Adult Unit)

Recognizes those in formal nursing leadership positions who demonstrate excellence in upholding the shared values of the nursing profession and Pine Rest. Those selected for this award consistently model respect, compassion and professionalism while promoting our healing environment.

Congratulations to all of our winners! We are so grateful for all of our nurses here at Pine Rest who have dedicated their careers to providing compassionate care, and who offer our patients hope and healing that truly comes from the heart!.
