Pine Rest nursing leadership recently honored four outstanding caregivers who exemplify the very best in the nursing profession. These individuals were celebrated for their dedication to patient care, their contributions to nursing practices, and the heartfelt compassion they bring to their nursing roles.
The awards and recipients included:
Nursing Achievement Award – Pam Smith (Elm Unit)
In recognition of the outstanding contributions of a direct patient care nurse who has positively impacted the practice environment OR who has been recognized for nursing care accomplishments at Pine Rest or in the community.

A strong, silent leader on the Pine Rest Elm Unit, Pam has been a nurse for 50 years. She has a heart for her patients and enjoys mentoring new nurses and encouraging psych techs to do their best. She is the definition of teamwork and truly exemplifies the “healing ministry of Jesus Christ “ here at Pine Rest.
Nursing Preceptor and Mentor Award – Kailey Jenson (Cypress Unit)
In recognition of nurses who demonstrate accountability, clinical excellence and teamwork, while supporting education and professional development of novice and experienced nurses.

Kailey is described by her coworkers as one of the hardest working, self-motivated, helpful, kind, and level-headed nurses … She can be counted on to provide sound guidance and is willing to answer questions no matter what her own workload looks like. She is a genuinely caring nurse.
Nursing Vision Award – Rebecca Hoag (Aspen Unit)
In recognition of nurses who are engaged and committed to the organization as evidenced by their work contributions and committee participation.

A phenomenal leader with incredible organizational skills, Rebecca carries out the mission of Pine Rest and brings an optimistic and upbeat attitude with her to every shift. She actively seeks out engagement with her patients and sees each and every one of them as a human who deserves to be treated with compassion.
Nightingale Award – Audrey Batts (Cypress Unit)
In recognition of nurses in their first year of practice who demonstrate commitment to the profession through patient care and seeking out new knowledge to improve nursing practice and clinical excellence.

Audrey consistently shows flexibility in her assignments and does not skip a beat when it comes to providing exceptional patient care for children and adolescents across a multitude of diagnoses and mental health needs. Her compassion for care benefits all of her patients. She is always willing to go the extra mile not only for her patients, but also frequently checks in with other nurses to make sure that the unit overall is running well.”
