When I was in high school and quickly growing deeper in my faith, God made it clear to me that He was calling me to a life of counseling others. Having a hope and a purpose outside of myself is what developed my passion for walking alongside those who are struggling as they journey toward healing.
I believe Christians are called to strive towards being “Jesus with skin on” and care for others the way Jesus does – with compassion, grace, and wisdom. It’s no secret that this life is filled with trials and suffering, so being led by the hope of Christ is what brings light amidst the darkness. With that, I make it a point to respect my clients’ different beliefs and backgrounds without judgment, because I am being led by the Spirit to meet that person where they are at, regardless of where that is, and help them move forward.
I feel blessed and privileged to be at Pine Rest, working with people who share the same vision and values that I do, making a strong impact in the community. Before coming to Pine Rest, I lived in Waterloo and attended a Baptist church where I served on the missions board, in the mentoring program, and as a small group leader in the youth group where my husband worked as the youth pastor. My life verses are Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.” I try to let that Truth not only resonate in my professional life, but all areas of my life, to depend on God and give him access to lead our lives and heal our hearts.
