On April 20, Jon Weeldreyer, MA, CAADC, CCS-M, from the Pine Rest Kalamazoo Clinic was interviewed on WZZM. The topic was “Isolation can lead to substance abuse during pandemic, reaching out is key.”
Quarantine can be harder on some people than others, particularly those who have battled addiction in the past.
“One of the biggest reasons that folks struggle with staying sober is isolation,” said Weeldreyer. “A huge chunk of why AA is works is because people get fellowship there and they get a chance to talk instead of just sitting alone.”
