EAS Patient Support Fund
The EAS Patient Support Fund benefits Pine Rest patients in crisis who are experiencing financial hardship and need life-saving mental health treatment through outpatient follow-up care following discharge from our inpatient hospital.
The fund was created in memory of Eric A. Spitler, who tragically lost his life to suicide in 2021. Eric’s initials “EAS” also stand for “Empowering All Survivors.” Through this new fund, his family seeks to carry on Eric’s legacy of love and generosity, while empowering future survivors of mental health crises, by reducing financial burden and removing barriers to continued mental health treatment.
“Eric had a giving heart and would give the shirt off his back for anyone,” recalls his wife, Sarah. “We want to relieve the financial burden for patients so they can receive the services they need to keep battling this disease [of mental illness] that is so misunderstood in our society.”
Donations for the EAS Patient Support Fund may be made through our donation page. Make sure to choose “EAS Patient Support Fund” for the designation.
100% of gifts are used to help reduce the cost of treatment for individuals and families with financial hardships.

Do you know someone who needs help?
Anyone concerned about the cost of a patient’s care may ask Pine Rest’s account manager or the outpatient clinic manager about applying for financial help. Pine Rest looks at each request in terms of the patient’s insurance coverage, financial resources and other criteria.
