Endowments provide a perpetual stream of support for our services. Each year, Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services receives a distribution from the endowment, which allows for a wide variety of support. Patients throughout our programs are supported directly through the Patient Assistance Fund. Additionally, funds support the Casey Wondergem Grant Program, which allows Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services to innovate through research and piloting creative models to improve care.
Many generous gifts – including estate gifts – have built the endowment to $24 million. For the first time since its inception, the fiscal year 2015 distribution from the Pine Rest Foundation Endowment was over $1 million.
The Pine Rest Foundation currently stewards three endowment funds.
Created in the early 1960s, all contributions to the General Endowment are held and used to provide support to Pine Rest programs serving individuals, children and families in our community. Every month, Pine Rest receives over 3,400 cries for help. Because of the faithful support of our donors, the Pine Rest Foundation has been able to provide over $5 million in financial assistance to further the healing ministry of Jesus Christ at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services.
A few of the many programs that receive support from the General Endowment Fund are:
- Psychiatric Residency Program
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Training & Programs
- Serving Seniors and Their Families
- Research Expansion
- The Mother and Baby Program
- Co-Occurring Program
- Impact of Trauma on the Lives of Teenagers Training
Pine Rest Christian Homes Endowment
This Endowment was established in 1993 to support services to persons with developmental disabilities. Because of the continued generosity of our donors, this fund provides ongoing assistance to families year after year.
This fund was established in large part by families of residents in Pine Rest Christian Homes. They recognized the emotional and financial challenges families of loved ones with developmental disabilities face. At their encouragement, the endowment for Pine Rest Christian Homes was founded. All gifts from this fund are used strictly for easing the financial burden of families of our 76 residents at Pine Rest Christian Homes.
Your gift to this endowment makes it possible for those who would be unable to afford out-of-home Christian care call Pine Rest Christian Homes their “HOME.”
For nearly 30 years, Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services has provided south central Iowa individuals and families with a comprehensive array of Christian mental health services through the Pella and Des Moines Clinics. Gifts to the Iowa Endowment make it possible for Pine Rest to continue to provide the ministry of restoration and renewal to Iowans now and in the future. Some of these areas include a patient assistance fund, pastor support groups, marriage and family building seminars. The list literally is endless. We believe that securing the future of services in Iowa is extremely important.
Together, we can give the gift of mental health.
