Pregnancy in Teenage Years

This Pearls presentation by four psychiatry residents at Pine Rest aims to cover pregnancy in teens, specifically highlighting key concepts like rates of unintended pregnancy, how to counsel patients that are experiencing teen pregnancy, and understanding psychiatric consequences. We will also discuss sexual history-taking and modes of pregnancy prevention for our female patients.

 

Objectives

  1. Identify rates of unintended pregnancy in teens.
  2. Discuss at least 2 ways to counsel patients experiencing unintended pregnancy.
  3. Understand at least 2 psychiatric consequences of teenage pregnancy.
  4. Discuss modes of pregnancy prevention & sexual history taking.
