Objectives:
Identify common medical comorbidities in psychiatric patients (e.g., diabetes, cardiovascular disease, Neurological Disorders (Traumatic Brain Injury), and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and recognize early warning signs of clinical deterioration.
Demonstrate appropriate monitoring and assessment techniques for medically complex patients within a psychiatric setting, including vital signs, mental status changes, and medication side effects.
Apply safe care strategies that integrate psychiatric and medical needs, including coordination with interdisciplinary teams and adherence to facility protocols.
Intervene effectively to medical emergencies in psychiatric environments by initiating appropriate interventions and activating emergency response systems.
