From time to time in everyone’s life, a concern arises that, despite our best efforts, we can’t handle on our own. We may feel helpless and wonder where we can turn for help.
Many faith organizations committed to assisting their members in getting the help they need, have partnered with Pine Rest to provide access to Pine Rest’s Church Assistance Program (CAP) which recognizes life’s stressors can affect your health—physically, mentally and spiritually. The CAP is a pre-paid, confidential 24/7 service that assists church employees and members as well as their household members with support for their mental and behavioral health, legal, elder care consultation and other needs.
If your faith organization has contracted with Pine Rest, you are eligible for the services listed below. If you have any questions about your benefit, please consult with your organization’s administrator.
Pine Rest’s clinicians and therapists are available at outpatient locations throughout Michigan and Iowa to provide confidential and professional counseling services.
A special hotline telephone number given to all members provides unlimited 24/7 access to a Pine Rest counselor within one hour of initial contact for a professional telephone consultation. Counselors are members of the Pine Rest staff and include psychologists and clinical social workers. During the initial call, you and anyone in your household may request information, discuss personal problems, obtain assistance in problem assessment and resolution, or request a referral to an appropriate Pine Rest therapist at any of our outpatient locations for face-to-face assessment.
Common issues we help people with everyday include:
- Difficult Transitions
- Marriage and Couples Counseling
- Parenting Issues
- Relationship Problems
Face-to-face Professional Counseling/Consultation
Face-to-face consultation is available to you and members of your household. Consultations with Masters and PhD level counselors are available within 48 business hours of initial Hotline contact and can be scheduled at any of Pine Rest’s outpatient locations in Michigan or Iowa.
A set number of face-to-face visits per issue are provided at no cost to you through your faith organization’s contract with Pine Rest. Often these visits are all you will need. If you are referred for other services, there may be a cost. The CAP staff will work with you to find the most affordable method to cover the cost of additional services.
You may be facing the daunting challenge of caring for an elderly loved one. Evaluating the services needed and tracking down resources, all while trying to provide support for emotional and daily living needs of a loved one can be overwhelming and exhausting. The CAP provides telephonic access to an elder care specialist, who works directly with you to make a careful assessment of the individual’s care needs. The specialist will provide education and contact information for available local care and service options, guiding you throughout the selection process.
Consultation for elder care resources include:
- Assisted living facilities
- Adult foster care
- Nursing homes
- Senior communities
- Adult day programs
- In-home care, recreational therapy and transportation options
- Meals on wheels
- Case management services
- Support groups & other senior care organizations
Worrying about a legal matter can be highly stressful and distracting, making it hard to concentrate on your work or cope with life issues. Whether you need a legal opinion about a family or domestic relationship, require help solving a landlord-tenant dispute, require assistance with a real estate matter or have a business issue, speaking with an attorney can be helpful. Pine Rest CAP has negotiated a free consultation and discounted hourly rates for EAP and CAP members at the West Michigan law firm of Rhoades McKee, a full-service law firm helping families and individuals, small growing businesses and large corporations understand and address legal issues since 1960.
Free Consultation – Rhoades McKee attorneys provide up to 30 minutes of free telephonic consultation. The purpose of the initial consultation is to help you understand some of the issues related to the legal matter. The attorney will explain your options and the costs associated with each and may also provide general advice.
Discounted Hourly Rates – If you retain or use a Rhoades McKee attorney beyond the free consultation, you will receive a 20% discount off the attorney’s normal hourly rate.
The CAP provides access to the Personal Advantage Web library, a cloud-based service with instant access to health and wellness, financial, and legal information and much more. The Health and Wellness section alone contains over 2,000 Harvard Medical School reviewed articles, 700 videos and dozens of health assessments. The Financial section provides articles, calculators as well as federal and state tax forms—resources that might come in handy this time of year.
An organization-specific password is necessary to log in and access most of the information. The site may prompt users to set up an individual account if they want to save results from calculators, quizzes or assessments.
