Three Pine Rest psychiatrists have positions on the Michigan Psychiatric Society (MPS) board and one has just completed his term.
Eric Achtyes, MD, MS, attending psychiatrist, Pine Rest, and director, division of psychiatry and behavioral medicine, Michigan State University - College of Human Medicine, moved from his position of president-elect to president of the MPS. Dr. Michael Fusillo, Pine Rest hospital based services medical director, was recently elected as Councilor.
Two other current Councilor members on the MPS board also are staff at Pine Rest. They are Dr. William Sanders and Dr. Isha Salva. Bill Sanders, DO, Pine Rest residency director and attending psychiatrist has been serving as a Councilor and has one more year. While Dr. Isha Salva, a member of Pine Rest behavioral health solutions, has completed his term as Councilor.
These board members are volunteers. They are elected because of their reputation as leaders in the field of psychiatry and their passion for mental health issues.
The Michigan Psychiatric Society represents the interests and professional needs of psychiatric physicians in Michigan while striving to ensure quality care for people with mental disorders and their families through promotion of education, research, and advocacy. It was founded in 1908, and is one of the oldest medical specialty organizations in Michigan. MPS is located in Lansing.
