Pine Rest Foundation Begins $1.5 Million Capital Campaign

A 3-year capital campaign titled, “There’s No Place Like Home,” will enhance the lives of residents at Pine Rest Christian Homes. Pine Rest offers residential services in home settings for adults with developmental disabilities. Services provide a continuum of living situations with varying degrees of support, as many of the residents are at Pine Rest for a lifetime.

The Pine Rest Christian Homes are designed especially for individuals with higher needs due to mental health disorders, behavioral difficulties, aging and medical issues, or significant limitations with regard to activities of daily living.

The $1.5 million capital campaign funds will be used to renovate and upgrade the living environment of 56 adults in family group homes. The funds will enable Pine Rest to:

  • Update the interiors and exteriors of the homes
  • Ensure a therapeutic environment
  • Enhance safety and security of each home
  • Improved handicap accessibility
  • Implement green initiatives wherever possible
  • Add an addition to two homes to give every resident an individual bedroom

“Pine Rest has done such a wonderful job for Lou Ann’s brother, David. The staff has compassion and takes great care to provide fully for the residents of these homes. We needed these homes to be there for our family at a time of high anxiety. And we believe this project will extend their mission for many years to come to all those who will come after us,” says Dan Gaydou who along with his wife Lou Ann are the Capital Campaign Chairpersons.

With the support of a generous donor, Pine Rest hired a company with a history of creating and maintaining long term care environments to analyze the homes. This report provided the data to determine the project cost and scope. Progressive AE is the project manager and Elzinga & Volkers, Inc. is construction manager for this project.
