“I’m inspired by the opportunity to help people reclaim authorship of their own stories. So often, clients come to therapy feeling defined by pain, stigma or experiences that have overshadowed their sense of self. My passion lies in creating a space where my clients can feel safe enough to share those stories, examine them with curiosity, and begin to rewrite them in ways that reflect their values, strengths and hopes. I find it deeply meaningful to witness the moment when someone starts to see themselves not as the problem, but as the expert of their own life, capable of shaping a new and more empowering narrative.”

Working with Vanessa is like stepping into a space where you’re invited to show up exactly as you are. She creates a welcoming, affirming environment where clients feel seen, heard and supported. Her style is warm and collaborative, rooted in deep respect for each person’s lived experience. Vanessa values the power of storytelling in healing and growth, and partners with clients to explore how their personal narratives shape their identities, relationships and emotional well-being.

Vanessa specializes in Narrative Therapy, a collaborative and empowering approach that helps client’s re-author the stories they tell about themselves, particularly those shaped by pain, oppression, or past experiences. She also integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support clients with skill-building, emotional regulation and behavior change. Vanessa’s work is flexible and client-centered—some sessions may focus on immediate challenges, while others provide space for deeper reflection and self-discovery.

Vanessa especially welcomes adolescents, young adults and adults between the ages 11 of 50 who may feel overwhelmed, stuck or uncertain. She has experience supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, identity exploration, life transitions, emotion dysregulation and interpersonal concerns. Vanessa’s practice is inclusive of diverse cultural, racial, and gender identities. She holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor and is currently completing her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from Purdue University in Indiana.
