Tonia Lans joined Pine Rest in 2024 as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over 20 years of experience. She received both her Master’s in Counseling and a Doctorate in Counseling Education/Psychology from Western Michigan University. Tonia began her career as a teacher and school counselor in K-12 settings. In addition, she worked as a college counselor providing academic, career and mental health services to community college students. Before coming to Pine Rest, Tonia worked for a private counseling practice in Holland, Michigan.
Tonia works with clients of all ages who are struggling with a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma-related concerns, grief and loss, relationships problems, school related issues, and spiritual matters. Additionally, her expertise includes assisting women in transition and helping clients and their families navigating chronic illnesses and disabilities.
Tonia offers a personalized and collaborative approach to counseling that is warm and supportive. Her therapeutic techniques include several kinds of therapy including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic interviewing, strength-based approaches, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness. Tonia has a genuine interest in providing holistic and culturally appropriate psychoeducation to equip individuals to address mental health issues proactively. Her hope it that through counseling, you will be able to find new meaning and hope amid life’s challenges.
