“What motivates me as a clinical mental health therapist is the opportunity to walk alongside individuals as they navigate the complexities of life. Each stage brings its own challenges and chances for growth, and I find deep fulfillment in being both a supportive presence and a thoughtful guide. I strive to understand what truly matters to each person I work with, helping them build self-awareness, clarify their values, strengthen problem-solving skills, and make wise, intentional decisions. Supporting clients as they learn to manage emotions and cultivate healthy relationships is central to my approach. The most rewarding part of my work is empowering people to face life’s challenges with confidence and recognize the unique value they bring to the world around them.”

Clients who work with Sherry often describe her as approachable, compassionate and deeply committed to helping others thrive. She creates a safe and nurturing environment where children, adolescents and families feel comfortable expressing themselves and working through life’s challenges. Whether a child is struggling with school, a teen is navigating emotional ups and downs, or a family is coping with grief or trauma, Sherry meets each person with empathy and understanding, helping them feel seen, supported and empowered.

Sherry draws from a variety of therapeutic approaches tailored to the unique needs of each client. Her clinical experience includes working with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma recovery, ADHD, parenting challenges and adjustment-related issues. She has a strong background in trauma-informed care—particularly with survivors of child sexual abuse—and is skilled in supporting minority populations. Through therapy, clients can expect to gain emotional resilience, improved coping skills, and a stronger sense of self and connection within their families and communities.

Sherry is a Licensed Master’s Level Social Worker in the state of Michigan. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Calvin College and her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan. With a career spanning various settings—including home-based services, school social work, and outpatient therapy—Sherry brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for helping children and families heal and grow.

Sherry participates with Faith Community Outreach, an initiative within Pine Rest that seeks to connect area clergy, churches, and ministries to services available from Pine Rest, as well as develop new services specifically designed to benefit the faith community.

Sherry France participates in the Diversity Collective.

Faith Statement

The resume info aside, I believe that God has generously blessed me with a Christian upbringing and a Godly husband. When my husband was diagnosed with a serious form of cancer in 2008, I needed to rely on God for guidance and strength to face overwhelming personal challenges. I know that trails and pain help to develop Godly character and I believe that I am called to be one who walks beside those who are hurting. I believe that God has blessed me with spiritual gifts as well as a desire to express mercy and compassion to others. I am thankful to work in a Christian setting that allows me to weave my faith, personal experiences, and formal education together, while fulfilling my passion to help hurting children, adults and families.
