When meeting with Shelby, clients can anticipate a warm, collaborative environment where they are genuinely heard and valued. She prioritizes building trust and rapport, and believes that the therapeutic relationship is central to fostering change. Shelby approaches each session with compassion and dedication, helping clients uncover the roots of their concerns and guiding them through their healing journey. Her practice is client-centered, ensuring that each person’s needs and goals are at the forefront of therapy.

Shelby utilizes a range of therapeutic techniques and employs a person-centered approach with a focus on trauma. Her work often explores how early experiences shape current functioning. Additionally, she is proficient in addressing perinatal mental health concerns, including issues related to infertility, pregnancy and postpartum. Shelby also supports her clients through developmental transitions, and will help them align their actions with their core beliefs and goals.

Shelby Powers is a doctoral limited licensed psychologist, currently completing her doctorate in clinical psychology at George Fox University in Portland, Oregon. She is in the midst of her predoctoral internship at Pine Rest, where she continues to develop her expertise. Previously, Shelby gained extensive experience in risk assessment during her multi-year placements at several rural Oregon hospitals, focusing on evaluating suicide, homicide and psychosis-related risks. She also holds a certification in Trauma Treatment in Clinical Practice, emphasizing a nervous-system-focused approach to trauma conceptualization and treatment.
