Dr. Halstead is a clinical neuropsychologist who has been at Pine Rest since August 2003. Dr. Halstead is currently serving as the Corporate Director of Pine Rest’s outpatient clinic network, and his clinical specialty is adult neuropsychological assessment, with particular focus on the early diagnosis and treatment of memory disorders in older adults.
Prior to Pine Rest, Dr. Halstead served for 12 years in the U.S. Air Force. A Michigan native, he completed his undergraduate degree at Calvin College, obtained his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary, and completed a post-doctoral neuropsychology fellowship at Brown University.
He has published and presented on topics of depression and memory disorders in older adults. His clinical interests are in the early diagnosis of dementia in order to maximize the effects of treatments. He is also interested in research on ways to minimize the risks of dementia for older adults.
