Faith Statement

As a Christian, I sincerely invite you to bring your beliefs into each session to define desired areas of growth, address obstacles to having a fulfilling spiritual life, overcome personal spiritual abuse(s), if any, and learn how to purposefully live your life.

When I have the honor of meeting you, we will first discuss your beliefs and personal values to identify your level of spiritual needs during therapy. You have an important role to guide each session with what means most to you. For example, you may ask to open and/or end with prayer, process a spiritual dilemma, bring questions about what challenges your belief system, and/or develop systems of accountability, spiritual growth, and/or community.

I hold a Master of Social Work and have also completed training in spiritual integration. Throughout my professional life, I have processed with individuals from various Christian and non-Christian backgrounds with a “come as you are” attitude. I, too, will come as I am, with empathy and compassion, while providing you an emotional holding environment to process as little or as much of what is weighing on your heart and mind each session. My hope is for you to experience validation and a sense of safety and fulfillment.

Clinician Bio

“You are priceless. While you wrestle with this truth, note your initial response to either agree, be neutral or disagree. Maybe you are neutral. However, if you disagree, I wonder if at some time in your life someone told and/or treated you the opposite and you believed him or her? Let’s talk about your sense of value and worth because you may have experienced trauma. My heart is to be a good listener and provide a safe environment for you to begin making meaning of your life experiences for improved daily functioning.”

Sabrina is dedicated to providing a trauma-informed approach to mental health care with individuals seeking counseling to overcome a single traumatic event (car accident, loss of a loved one, divorce) as well as developmental, and/or complex trauma (abuse, neglect, near death experience, witness death, serious injury, natural disaster). Additionally, Sabrina journeys with adults living with anxiety, depression, grief and loss.

Sabrina is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) interpersonal therapy (IPT), insight-oriented therapy, internal family systems therapy (IFS), and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). Areas of expertise include women’s interpersonal issues, trauma-related issues including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Acute Stress Disorder (ASD), Secondary Traumatic Stress (STS), and Vicarious trauma.

Upon earning her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Denver, Sabrina has provided outpatient therapy services at the Pine Rest Southwest Clinic in Grandville, Michigan since 2021. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Hope College in 1992.

Sabrina participates with Faith Community Outreach, an initiative within Pine Rest that seeks to connect area clergy, churches and ministries to services from Pine Rest as well as develop new services specifically designed to benefit the faith community.

Sabrina Haverdink participates in the Diversity Collective.
