Rebecca is a group leader at Pine Rest and does not carry an outpatient caseload. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Central Michigan University and has primarily worked through non-profit organizations to provide counseling and to promote access for all to what is essential for well-being.
Through life experiences and 20+ years as a counselor, Rebecca has learned healing starts when our most hard-to-talk-about experiences are explored with a safe person who provides compassion and insight. In her group work, she meets her clients in their difficult feelings, helps them find an anchor and encourages them as they reduce old, self-defeating habits and create new habits and skills that promote happiness and more fulfilling relationships with self and others.
Rebecca uses a variety of counseling techniques as part of her group work, including cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, family therapy, mindfulness, motivational and others. She adjusts the counseling approach according to her client’s needs.
Through her group work, Rebecca enjoys working with people of all ages as they face challenging life transitions such as parenting, adoption, recovery from addiction or relapse, trauma, caregiving and chronic or terminal illness.
