“I have been passionate about helping people on their journey to healing and growth since joining the mental health field in 1999. At the heart of my work is an unwavering belief in the power of choice, growth and spiritual development.”
In sessions with Randy, clients can expect to enter a safe, quiet space where they are attended to, cared for and affirmed for what they are experiencing and feeling. Randy values collaboratively working to help clients find a unique path forward toward their goals. To do this, Randy utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), and Motivational Interviewing. He is particularly committed to Motivational Interviewing and has worked to hone his skills at this by becoming a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers in 2010. He remains actively involved in this community as it impacts him personally and the work he does.
Randy works with both adults and adolescents, with particular expertise in substance use and other compulsive behaviors, including gambling, sex and pornography addiction. He also has a deep understanding of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and thought disorders, including severe and persistent mental illness. Alongside these areas, Randy has a strong passion for helping individuals navigate grief, loss, forgiveness, shame, guilt, and the complex challenges of recovery from compulsive behaviors.
Randy earned his Master’s of Social Work Degree from Wayne State University in 2001. He has been an outpatient therapist for Pine Rest since 2017 and currently serves in the Telehealth Clinic. Randy also participates with Faith Community Outreach, an initiative within Pine Rest that seeks to connect area clergy, churches, and ministries to services available from Pine Rest; as well as develop new services specifically designed to benefit the faith community.
