Rachel works with adults, and older adults on a variety of treatment needs. She received her Bachelor’s in International Development Studies from Calvin College in 2009 and her Master’s of Social Work from Grand Valley State University in 2011. In addition to mood disorders such as anxiety and depression, Rachel works with individuals who have been dealing with substance use disorders, trauma, anger, behavioral challenges, grief, the desire for holistic healing, and medical challenges. She works with clients in both one-on-one settings and groups.
Prior to joining Pine Rest, Rachel conducted counseling in the foster care system, adoption agencies, substance use clinics, and a neurological medical center. She utilizes a mix of therapeutic strategies to work with each individual which may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Holistic/integrative Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy, and Grief Counseling.
Rachel’s populations of interest include:
- Adults 18 – 64: PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Borderline Personality Disorder, Mood Disorders, Eating Disorders, Bi-polar, and Substance Abuse Disorders
- Older Adults 65+: PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Borderline Personality Disorder, Mood Disorders, Eating Disorders, Bi-polar, and Substance Abuse Disorders
