“I became a therapist because I believe in the power of healing, self-discovery and personal growth at every stage of life. No one’s journey is without challenges, and I am passionate about walking alongside individuals as they navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, grief, and other life struggles. My goal is to create a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where clients feel empowered to explore their emotions, gain insight, and develop the tools needed to move forward with confidence and resilience.”

Clients working with Rachel can expect a warm, supportive and collaborative approach tailored to their unique needs. She works with adults and older adults, providing both individual and group therapy. With an emphasis on holistic healing, Rachel integrates emotional, psychological, and physical well-being into her work. Whether addressing trauma, substance use, mood disorders or medical challenges, Rachel ensures that clients feel heard, respected and equipped with practical strategies to enhance their quality of life.

Rachel utilizes a diverse range of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Holistic/Integrative Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Grief Counseling. She is experienced in helping individuals work through PTSD, anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, and substance use disorders. By drawing from multiple therapeutic methods, Rachel tailors her approach to meet each client’s specific goals and challenges.

Rachel earned her Bachelor’s degree in International Development Studies from Calvin College in 2009 and her Master’s of Social Work from Grand Valley State University in 2011. Before joining Pine Rest, she provided counseling in foster care systems, adoption agencies, substance use clinics and a neurological medical center.
