Peter is a Licensed Professional Counselor who attended Calvin College for his degree in Psychology. He then went on to attend Loyola University Maryland, where he received a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. For several years during and following his graduate work, Peter worked with child, teen, and adult survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Peter has experience providing a wide range of services to a diverse group of clients. Although he enjoys working with clients of all ages, Peter has a strong passion for working with kids and teens. He has training and experience in working with LGBTQ+ clients as well, particularly adolescents and young adults.
Peter fully believes in meeting the client where they are and in collaborating with the client to find the best fit for treatment approaches. By spending time developing a therapeutic connection and building rapport, the client will feel safe and comfortable while in session. Through hard work, effective communication, and creative problem solving, Peter will support the client in highlighting areas for adjustment or improvement, making progress towards those goals as well as developing the skills necessary to maintain that progress.
Peter has a lot of passions and interests in his life. He loves everything from comic books and movies to sports and sports cars. Whether you are interested in music, video games, books, board games, soccer, football, or anything in between, Peter will more than likely share that interest. Peter also enjoys exercise, running, hiking, kayaking, playing with his two dogs, and most other outdoor activities.
