Pamela Mairs-Lorio, is a Limited Licensed Psychologist (LLP) with experience in various mental health settings. She earned a BA in psychology from Governor’s State University and a graduate degree in counseling psychology from Western Michigan University.
Pamela began her career volunteering on a suicide prevention helpline and progressed to working in a hospital as a mental health specialist on a psychiatric team. From there she moved into positions in public mental health both as an administrator and clinician. She has worked as an outpatient therapist since 2011. Pamela has experience working with all age groups and currently works with adolescents and adults in her practice.
Pamela is passionate about working with people seeking to have a better life. She specializes in work with LGBTQ+ persons, depression, anxiety, trauma, couples work, employee assistance, grief and loss, life-threatening illness and adjustment challenges.
She views therapy as a collaborative process and a developmental journey. She approaches therapy from a person-centered and non-judgmental perspective while integrating psychodynamic and ego-psychology theory into her work.
Pamela lives in Kalamazoo with her wife Penny, a standard Poodle, two parrots and a variety of farm cats.
