Michelle is a licensed clinical social worker providing therapy since 2011. She was privileged to study psychology at Calvin College, graduating in 2006. She then went on to earn her master’s in social work from the University of Michigan in 2009.
Michelle enjoys working with adults who are struggling with depression, suicidal thoughts, low self-worth, anxiety (illness related, social, and generalized), chronic pain, and life changes. She has experience providing therapy in a variety of settings including a primary care doctors’ office, crisis homes and outpatient private practice. As a counselor, Michelle strives to create a safe space for people to express who they are, share their struggles, and feel seen. She practices active listening and engages individuals, so they feel heard and understood. Michelle helps to find solutions to current struggles that clients can implement right away, and to empower people to make strategic changes to promote healing, growth and mental wellness.
Michelle trained in a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities such as brief-solution focused individual therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
