Faith Statement

With respect to Christian counseling and pastoral/ church referrals, I would like to explain in more detail who I am as a Christian and how I view Christian counseling. I am a born-again, Bible believing Christian and see therapy as a living out of Hebrews 4:16, “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Guided by what the client seeks to address and work on in counseling, I love to help people examine themselves: their thoughts, moods, and actions; and their relationships: their family, friendships, and work.

Spiritual matters are part of the clinical framework in which I view those times of need and may be directly or indirectly addressed in sessions based on what the client is seeking in therapy. Sometimes clients may want a Christian counselor and all that means to them is that the person providing counsel is a Christian; other times, clients want a Christian counselor and they are hoping that the materials discussed are Biblically sourced; and still other times, clients want a Christian counselor who prays with them in session and counsels directly from Scripture – I am proficient and comfortable in all those settings.
