Dr. Steenwyk is a Fully Licensed Psychologist who specializes in treating depressive and anxiety disorders in adults and adolescents. Dr. Steenwyk also treats many individuals struggling, adjustment difficulties, anger/aggression problems, children with behavioral problems, and men’s issues. Dr. Steenwyk developed a new post-hospitalization aftercare program for Pine Rest, entitled the Healthy Living Group. This program’s mission is to reduce re-hospitalization rates and prepare those recently discharged from intensive hospital based services to reintegrate into their families, the workforce and community at large.

Dr. Steenwyk earned a BA in Psychology and a BA in Philosophy from Calvin College and completed his graduate training at Fuller Theological Seminary where he earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a Masters in Christian Leadership. Prior to joining the staff of Pine Rest, Dr. Steenwyk served as the Clinical Director for Bauer Family Resources in Lafayette, Indiana. He is currently the Clinic Manager for the Pine Rest Northeast Clinic.

Dr. Steenwyk is a professional member of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science and is highly proficient in the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) treatment model. ACT is an evidenced based treatment model that has been shown to be effective in treating a number of different conditions including anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, chronic pain, substance abuse, and trauma.
