Maria Gruppen, PsyD
Dr. Gruppen received her master’s and doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College in Illinois. Her APA accredited pre-doctoral internship was completed at Mississippi State Hospital. Maria has experience providing psychological services to children, adolescents (age 12 and up) and adults in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. She looks forward to working with clients to foster a renewed sense of hope while honoring each client’s unique personhood and potential.
Maria’s professional interests include adolescent/college student development, women’s issues, complex trauma, grief and loss, anxiety disorders, OCD, perfectionism, depression/mood disorders, low self-esteem, child or adult ADHD, oppositional/disruptive behavior and the integration of psychology and spirituality/religion. She also enjoys working with families and/or individuals having difficulty with significant life transitions (such as a divorce or a teenager preparing for college). Maria is a co-creator and co-leader of the Adolescent Healthy Living Group at Christian Counseling Center .
