“I became a psychiatric nurse practitioner because I know what it’s like to walk through mental health struggles and come out the other side with greater clarity, purpose and compassion. I am passionate about creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel understood, empowered and equipped to move toward lasting wellness. Witnessing the transformation that occurs when someone is truly seen, heard and supported fuels my passion every day.”

Malinda (“Mia”) takes a collaborative and supportive approach to care. She views treatment as a partnership, where clients are experts in their own lives and experiences. She fosters a shared decision-making process that honors each person’s voice, goals and preferences. Her clinical style is adaptive–sometimes more structured, sometimes more exploratory–based on the individual’s needs and readiness.

Mia’s clients can expect a therapeutic environment that is warm, welcoming and emotionally safe. She is intentional about creating a space that feels grounded and inclusive, where clients can speak freely, ask questions and explore difficult emotions without fear of judgment. Whether someone is navigating a recent life change or managing a long-standing condition, Mia strives to meet individuals with curiosity, compassion and clinical clarity while supporting them in building stability, insight and a sense of empowerment in their mental health journey.

Mia employs a collaborative, person-centered and conservative approach to psychiatric care, using a combination of psychopharmacology and psychoeducation to support her clients’ mental health goals. She provides thorough psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management, ensuring clients understand the purpose, benefits and potential side effects of any prescribed treatment. She believes that meaningful progress is built on trust, consistency and clear communication, and she is committed to helping each client take actionable steps toward greater stability, resilience and quality of life.

Mia is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who currently practices as an outpatient provider through the Advanced Practice Residency Program at Pine Rest. She earned her Associate’s Degree in Nursing at Lansing Community College in 2015, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Michigan State University in 2018, and her Master of Science in Nursing from Wayne State University in 2024. Committed to staying current with evidence-based practices, Mia is an active member of both the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA) and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Prior to her role as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, Mia gained extensive experience working as a psychiatric nurse and care manager at Community Mental Health in Lansing, Michigan. In these roles, she worked with adult populations facing severe and persistent mental illnesses, co-occurring substance use disorders and acute crisis situations.

Today, Mia provides psychiatric evaluations and medication management for adults (ages 18+), specializing in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of psychiatric conditions.
