“I believe that everyone has the ability to grow, heal and lead a life filled with meaning, purpose and connection. I became a therapist to help people discover their inner strength, shift unhealthy patterns, and build a life that supports both mental and physical well-being. It is truly a privilege to walk alongside my clients as they uncover new ways to thrive and reconnect with themselves and the world around them.”

Lisa takes a compassionate, strengths-based, and client-centered approach to therapy. She offers a safe and welcoming space where individuals can explore their thoughts, emotions and behaviors without judgment. Clients working with Lisa can expect a collaborative relationship focused on building insight, resilience and practical skills for navigating life’s challenges. She is particularly passionate about helping adults develop healthier coping strategies, improve emotional well-being, and foster connection—with themselves, others and their spirituality.

Lisa integrates a variety of evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), supportive therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She draws from both behavioral and psychodynamic perspectives to help clients examine patterns, understand the root of their struggles, and make meaningful changes. These approaches are effective in treating a wide range of concerns, including substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, and co-occurring mental health conditions.

In sessions with Lisa, clients can expect a thoughtful blend of exploration and action. Sessions are tailored to individual needs and may include reflection, skill-building, goal setting, and value-based work. Lisa encourages clients to play an active role in their growth process, and she adapts her therapeutic style as needed to meet clients where they are. Her goal is to support clients in creating sustainable change and living lives that are more balanced, fulfilling and connected.

Lisa earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Albion College and her Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she specialized in clinical work with individuals, families and groups. She completed her clinical practicum at Chelsea Community Hospital’s Inpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Program. Lisa holds a CAADC (Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor) and has spent most of her career working in the field of substance use disorders. She has experience in a wide variety of settings including mental health hospitals, primary care, inpatient psychiatry, outpatient clinics, schools, and the court system. Lisa has worked with individuals across the lifespan and currently focuses her practice on adults aged 18 and older.

Lisa Griffin participates in the Diversity Collective.
