Faith Statement

As a Christian therapist, my deepest desire is to create a therapeutic setting where everyone feels safe, seen and welcome. None of us are exempt from the struggles and brokenness that life brings, and for this reason I believe that love, compassion and grace must be present to allow for healing and growth to occur. I believe that everyone is created with intrinsic worth, value and purpose – traits that are not dependent on who you are or what you do. This belief allows me the honor, as you are willing and ready, to meet you in some of the most painful and vulnerable places of your life; a role I do not take lightly.

My faith and relationship with Jesus Christ is an intricate part of who I am, and it is integrated into every aspect of my life including within the therapeutic setting. However, this integration only occurs at the level in which you are comfortable. Over the years, I have worked with clients from diverse beliefs and religious backgrounds, including those who have no religious affiliation at all. Regardless of your faith or religious beliefs, it is important that you hear this – “You are welcome here, just as you are. Abounding with grace and without judgement.”

Clinician Bio

“I believe that every person’s story matters, and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside individuals as they pursue healing and growth. Whether someone is facing anxiety, relational struggles, or spiritual questions, my goal is to provide a supportive space where they feel seen, heard, and encouraged to take steps toward meaningful change.”

Libby offers a compassionate, collaborative approach to therapy. Clients can expect a safe space to explore their experiences while engaging in a process that is holistic, relational and action oriented. She works with both individuals and families, supporting them through a variety of emotional, behavioral and relational challenges.

Libby draws from evidence-based practices such as motivational interviewing (MI), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT), and Parent Management Training – Oregon Model (PMTO). Her therapeutic style integrates structure and flexibility to meet the needs of each client, whether working with children, teens, or adults. Clients working with Libby may focus on navigating depression, anxiety, parenting concerns, life transitions, spiritual struggles, or relationship issues. Sessions may involve reflection, problem-solving, skill-building, and exploring underlying patterns to foster both personal and relational growth.

Libby is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in social work from Spring Arbor University. Her clinical background includes work in case management, home-based family therapy, trauma assessment, and crisis stabilization. She currently serves clients ages 8 – 100 at the Pine Rest Portage Clinic.

Libby participates with Faith Community Outreach, an initiative within Pine Rest that seeks to connect area clergy, churches, and ministries to services from Pine Rest as well as develop new services specifically designed to benefit the faith community.

Libby Peters participates in the Diversity Collective.
