After graduating from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas in 1978, Dr. Probes came to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he completed his psychiatry residency through both Pine Rest and Michigan State University. Following residency training, Dr. Probes worked for two years as a staff psychiatrist at Pine Rest, then went into private practice. He returned to Pine Rest in 2009.
Dr. Probes has consulted part time with many organizations and types of health care settings including general hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, Community Mental Health Clinics, jails and prisons, geriatric services, a brain injury clinic and many others. He speaks several foreign languages, including Russian and Spanish.
