Laura Brendsel, LLMSW
Laura Brendsel is a Limited Licensed Master Social Worker (LLMSW) at the Pine Rest Campus Clinic. Laura has worked in the field of social work with Pine Rest since February 2014. The two years prior to joining the Pine Rest team, she worked as the Faith Advocacy Coordinator for a non-profit organization in Grand Rapids. From 2007-2012, she worked as a Middle School Youth Group Pastor for a local church in Grand Rapids, MI.
Laura received her Bachelor’s degree in Youth Ministry & Bible from Kuyper College and her Master of Social Work degree from Western Michigan University. She has been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and utilizes strategies of Play Therapy. She has also completed Trauma Informed Parenting Training through Presley Ridge curriculum as a licensed foster parent.
Laura’s areas of expertise include the treatment of anxiety/stress disorders, attachment issues, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression issues, foster care issues, and childhood behavior problems. She has also worked extensively with the LGBT+ population, addressing sexual identity concerns especially related to spiritual and religious issues. Laura practices from a holistic viewpoint of working with each client as a whole person, meeting them where they are at in life in order to empower them to move in the direction they want to go.
